Spay & neuter

Walk-in spay & neuter with upfront pricing

Spaying and neutering protects your pet’s long-term health and prevents unwanted litters. At Utah Veterinary Emergency Center, you can walk in—no appointment—for a consult and clear estimate from a team that has completed thousands of sterilization procedures.

Why spay and neuter matter

Spaying eliminates the risk of pyometra (a life-threatening uterine infection) and dramatically reduces mammary cancer risk in females. Neutering eliminates testicular cancer risk and often reduces roaming, marking, and certain aggression in males.

For families across Herriman, Riverton, South Jordan, and West Jordan, sterilization is one of the highest-value preventive procedures we offer—and one of the most common surgeries we perform.

What to expect

Walk in for an exam and estimate. We discuss timing based on breed, size, and health status. Most spays and neuters are outpatient procedures: your pet arrives in the morning (or same-day when scheduling allows), undergoes monitored anesthesia, and goes home the same day with pain medication and recovery instructions.

  • Pre-surgical exam and optional pre-anesthetic blood work
  • IV catheter and gas anesthesia with continuous monitoring
  • Pain management before, during, and after surgery
  • E-collar and written home-care instructions
  • Follow-up guidance—call us during recovery if anything concerns you

Affordable, transparent pricing

Spay and neuter costs vary by species, sex, size, and age. We quote your pet’s procedure upfront before we proceed—no surprise add-ons. Ask about financing if that helps you move forward with care on the timeline your pet needs.

Common questions

When should I spay or neuter my pet?

Timing depends on species, breed, size, and lifestyle. We discuss the best window for your individual pet during your consult—balancing current research, growth considerations for large breeds, and your living situation.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk in during open hours for a spay/neuter consult and estimate. Many procedures are scheduled within the same week.

How long is recovery?

Most pets are groggy the evening of surgery and return to normal activity over a few days. Strict activity restriction typically lasts 10–14 days to protect the incision.
